Bible Verses Proving Jesus Christ is God and Heavenly Father, And Not A God In A Trinity

Many people (including Christians) are confused on the real identity of Jesus Christ. Some say, “he is just a prophet”. Others say, “he is just a man who received the fullness of the Holy Spirit”. Others say, “he is a God in a trinity”.

Who is Jesus Christ ? Who did Jesus Christ say He is?

Jesus is the Heavenly Father

The Lord Jesus Christ identified himself as the Father.

Philip told him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us.”

“Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me?” Jesus asked him. “The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? (John 14.8-9 (Bible Verse).

In other words, “I, the Father, have been with you all this time, and you still do not know me? (Bible Verse)

The Lord Jesus continuously identified himself as the Father.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, (John 14.26 Bible Verse).

When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, (John 15.26 Bible Verse)

so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you (John 15.16 Bible Verse)

If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it” (john14.14 Bible Verse)

I and the Father are one” (John 10.30 Bible Verse)

Jesus Christ is the LORD God. The name of the LORD God, as Son of Man, is Jesus Christ. God as Son of man is not His full glory, but God as Father is in His full glory.

The Lord God is omnipresent. He can be in different places at the same time and He can take any form.

Now, the LORD Jesus is in Heaven, and at the same time His Holy Spirit indwells many Christians. He is both in Heaven and on earth. The LORD Jesus was on earth as Holy Spirit indwelling the Son of Man (His own person) while still present in Heaven as Father. Jesus Christ could only return back to Christians as Holy Spirit only after His glorification (being Father).

You will look for me but will not find me. And where I am, you cannot come” (John 7.34 Bible Verse). He was on earth yet present in heaven. In other words, “I am in Heaven, and you cannot come there”

He God, the Father, rebirth himself, as son of man. As son of Man, He was in lower glory. He emptied Himself of His heavenly glory to do the work of redemption. He had to depend on Himself in Heaven, as Father God, to work on the earth. He prayed to Himself. God as son of Man, prayed to other self, God the Father. As Father, He is in greater power than as son of Man. The names; Father, Son, Holy Spirit, represent the different roles of the LORD. A human being can have different measures of responsibility or roles. A man can be a father, Son, or husband at the same time. This does not make him three persons.

There is just one God, who took a weak human form. He issued out of the Father and He went back to the Father (to being Father).

Jesus Christ is the Heavenly Father, who came down to the earth to redeem man to Himself. Jesus Christ is not another person who received the Spirit of God.  He is the person of God who received the fullness of His strength when His Holy Spirit came down from Heaven on the day of His baptism. On the day of the Lord Jesus’ water baptism, the Father, baptized Himself as Son of Man with the Holy Spirit. He was present in heaven in all His glory (as Father)  and present on earth (Jesus), in lower glory. His very person in heaven did all the works through His very person on earth. The glorified Jesus (Father) also baptizes His disciples with the Holy Spirit and power.

I am not going to forsake you like orphans. I will come back to you (John 14:18 Bible Verse).

There is just one true God, and Jesus is the name of the LORD God as man. The name is the only name given among men by which man can be saved. Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. There is no other way (John 14.4-7 Bible Verse). The only way to the Heavenly Father is the Son. In other words, the only way to God is God.

He who believes in Jesus Christ will do the same works that He did and even greater because He is in glory (he is Father) (John 14.12 Bible Verse). As Father, Jesus Christ is in His full capacity as God.

As the Father gives life, so too does the Son:

Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to those he chooses (John 5.21 Bible Verse)

The Father and the Son shares the same glory;

So now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world existed (John 17.5 Bible Verse)

The father and the Son share everything;

All that is mine is yours, and what is yours is mine, and I have been glorified through them (John 17.10 Bible Verse)

The Father and the Son share the same honor:

so that everyone may honor the Son as they honor the Father (John 5.23 Bible Verse)

Both the Father and the Son renders Judgement:

The Father judges no one, but has given all authority to judge to the Son (John 5.22 Bible Verse).

I can do nothing on my own accord. I judge according to what I hear, and my judgment is just, because I do not seek my own will but the will of the one who sent me (John 5:30 Bible Verse)

The Father and Son are trustworthy:

Believe in God, believe also in me (John 14.1 Bible Verse)

The Father and Son are worshipped:

And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy (Luke 24.52 Bible Verse)

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4.24 Bible Verse)

Baptism is done in the “Name”, and not in the “Names”:

Therefore, as you go, disciple people in all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, (Matthew 28.19 Bible Verse).

The “name” is identified to God. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Baptism is done in just one name because it is just one person. Baptism is done in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit.

The Lord God in heaven is Father (in His full glory). The Lord God on the earth is Jesus Christ, (in lower glory). After the resurrection, Jesus Christ went back to glory. Jesus Christ went back to heaven and sat on His throne as Father (at His father’s right hand).

There is just one God. There are no three Gods in one. There is just one God (Spirit) who is omnipresent (He can be in more than one place or person at a time) and He can take any form (even human form). Even angels take human forms to discharge specific assignments.

There is just one God, the LORD. He is the Heavenly Father, who came to the earth as Son, returned back to His throne and came back again as Holy Spirit indwelling many humans and still carrying out mighty works through them.

Bible Verses proving that Jesus is the Heavenly Father and not a God in a trinity

Prophet Isaiah called Him Father:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of peace (Isa 9.6 ISV)

Apostle Paul called Jesus God

as we wait for the blessed hope and glorious appearance of our great God and Savior, Jesus the Messiah (1 Titus 2.13  Bible Verse)

To the Israelis belong the patriarchs, and from them, the Messiah descended, who is God over all, the one who is forever blessed. Amen (Rom 9:5 Bible verse)

The writer of the Book of Hebrews revealed Jesus Christ as God

But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a righteous scepter.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. That is why God, your God, anointed you rather than your companions with the oil of gladness.”
And, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands (Heb 1.8-10 Bible Verse)

  1. Hi Liliane! Thank you for your work, I love your heart for God and His truth. I just want to join this conversation about Jesus being God, the Trinity, and His position.

    The Trinity is often misunderstood as the belief in three Gods, or God taking on three different forms, or even believing in a ‘three-headed’ God. These are all incorrect pictures trying to make sense of the Trinity because it seems like such a hard concept, but can actually be explained quite easily: We are created in the image of God. You as a person also consists of a so-called ‘Trinity’– you have a soul, you have a spirit, and you have a body– yet you are only one human being!
    *{ Gen 1:26a And God said, Let *Us* make man in *Our* image, after *Our* likeness. }
    *{ 1Th 5:23 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blamelessly at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. }

    When we say we believe in the Trinity we doesn’t mean three Gods in one, but one divine Being revealing Himself to us in three Persons: as God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. All three God Almighty.
    *{ Gal 4:6 And because you are sons, *God* has sent forth the *Spirit* of His *Son* into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. }
    *{ 2Co 13:14 May the grace of the *Lord Jesus Christ*, and the love of *God*, and the fellowship of the *Holy Spirit* be with you all. Amen. )
    *{ Heb 1:5 For to which of the angels did He say at any time, “You are My Son, this day I have begotten You?” And again, “I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son?” } (2 distinct Persons)
    *{ Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said… And My Father will love him, and *We* will come to him and make *Our* abode with him. } (2 distinct Persons)

    Jesus being God emptied Himself momentarily of His glory and come to us in Human form and ‘God the Son’ became ‘the Son of Man’, rather than the ‘Father’ becoming the ‘Son.’ Jesus did not exist from the moment of His birth on Earth, but existed from eternity as God and was also present at Creation.
    *{ Php 2:6-7 who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. }
    *{ Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
    Joh 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being.
    Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth. }

    After His resurrection He ascended to Heaven in His glorified body and intercedes for us with the Father, while the Holy Spirit was sent to us so we would not be left alone as orphans. Thus Jesus/God lives in our heart/on earth through the Holy Spirit.
    *{ Eph 2:18 For through Him(Jesus) we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. } (again also 3 distinct Persons)
    *{ Joh 16:7 …it is expedient for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you. But if I depart, *I will send Him* to you. } (Jesus have sent the Spirit to us, but didn’t return as the Spirit, He (Jesus) is currently at the right hand of the Father interceding for us)
    *{ Rom 8:34b It is Christ who has died, but rather also who is raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. } (2 distinct Persons in the same place at the same time Christ at the right hand of the Father)

    *{ Col 2:2 that their hearts might be comforted … to the full knowledge of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; }
    *{ 1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among nations, believed on in the world, and received up into glory. } …Can indeed be quite a mystery 😉

    Thanks for your time! Sorry for the long post, hope I could help to explain it..

    Keep up the good work! God bless!

    1. Thanks Sister in Christ for sharing in this conversation. I greatly appreciate your constructive contribution. Well, I will like to discuss some of the points you highlighted:

      Point1
      “We are created in the image of God. You as a person also consists of a so-called ‘Trinity’– you have a soul, you have a spirit, and you have a body– yet you are only one human being!”

      Comment:
      Are you saying that God is spirit, soul and body? You say He made us in his image (as body, soul, and Spirit). Scriptures, reveal, God is Spirit (John 4:24). Can you explain to me how God is spirit, soul and body?

      Point 2
      “When we say we believe in the Trinity we doesn’t mean three Gods in one, but one divine Being revealing Himself to us in three Persons: as God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. All three God Almighty.”

      Comment:
      If God is one being revealing Himself in three persons (three beings), is this not a self-contradictory statement? How can one person (being) be three persons (beings)? Does “All three God almighty” not have the same meaning as three Gods?
      I totally agree with the above quoted scriptures (Gal 4:6, 2 cor.13:14, Heb.1:5, John 14:23,) showing the distinctiveness of the father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but what I do not agree with is your insight on these scriptures. The LORD God taking a human form does not make it two persons. It is still one person.

      Point 3
      “*{ Php 2:6-7 who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. }”.

      Comment:
      I concur completely with this scripture. The Son is not equal to the Father (John 14:28). But God is equal to God. In Spirit, the Father and Son are one person and they are the LORD God. The LORD God as Father is in His full Glory, but the LORD God as Son is in lower glory (because he emptied himself of His glory as Father and took a human form).

      Point 4
      “After His resurrection He ascended to Heaven in His glorified body and intercedes for us with the Father, while the Holy Spirit was sent to us so we would not be left alone as orphans. Thus Jesus/God lives in our heart/on earth through the Holy Spirit.”

      comment:
      Compare these statements of Christ;
      “The Father will send the Holy Spirit” (John 14:25)
      “I will send the Holy Spirit” (John 16:7)
      “I am not going to forsake you like orphans. I will come back to you” (John 14:18).

      Another point: Jesus told his disciples, “In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also. At that time you will know that I am in my Father, that you are in me, and that I am in you (John 14:19-20).
      How will his disciples see him again? the LORD answered Thomans’ question, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. Then my Father will love him, and we will go to him and make our home within him”.

      Why am I highlighting these points? I just want you to see that the Jesus is the Holy Spirit in believers. At the same time, He is the Father that sent the Holy spirit. He did not leave his disciples orphans, He came back to them. If he did not return to His glory as Father, He could not send them His Holy Spirit. They see Him because He is them.

      Point 5
      *{ Rom 8:34b It is Christ who has died, but rather also who is raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. }

      Comment:
      Being at the Father’s right hand is a figurative speech. It does not mean that there are three or two thrones and the LORD Jesus is sitting at the right. Rather, it means, in heaven, the LORD in His throne and full glory as Father.

      Conclusive Statement:
      God is one person (one being). He is the LORD God. He is Spirit (the Holy Spirit). He is Father (His full glory) who emptied Himself of His glory and became Son to do the redemptive work of salvation. On earth as Son of man, He carried out all the mighty works through His mighty strength as Father (remember God is omnipresent). Now, He is in Heaven as father and on earth as Holy Spirit in his disciples (Just as the Father was in both in Heaven and on the earth in the Son of man).

      I truly appreciate your contribution to this post. I really do not mind your long comments. Instead I am thanking you for taking the time to write. At least, we agree on one fundamental truth, “JESUS CHRIST IS GOD”. Hope to see more of your constructive comments on other posts.

      Thanks and God bless you.

      I still welcome your constructive arguments on this comment.

      1. Thanks for your reply Liliane, I appreciate your willingness to discuss this further! 🙂

        Okay so let me start with

        POINT 1 & 2 [see 1John 5:7]
        By saying we are created in God’s image I do not mean He is also body soul and spirit (for God is spirit–and only Jesus took on our physical form when He came to earth John 4:24), I’m trying to show the similarity of us also made ‘3 in one.’ So what I mean is you are only one being yet you consist of 3. Your body is not your soul which is also not the same as your spirit (and each functions differently) — yet all 3 are you — and you are only *one* Liliane. And all ‘3 of you’ exist at the same time, you doesn’t change form between these 3. ‘They’ (body soul spirit) exist and function at the same time and are ‘you’ (one person). Likewise the Father Son Spirit exists at the same time and are One(God).

        (Some people like to say the Trinity is like water with its 3 different phases: ice, water and vapor. The problem with this analogy is that water doesn’t exist in these forms at the same time, and when the one phase takes form, the other disappears. And that is not the case for God.)

        If you would, 1+1+1 = 1. The Trinity is a concept that doesn’t make sense physically or scientifically and we cannot comprehend it with our minds because we are finite. It is something you believe because that’s how it is revealed through His Word. Even though it doesn’t make sense (just like the virgin birth and God actually willing to become man and be killed in our place doesn’t make sense). But God isn’t bound by our physical minds and our physical world with its laws–which He created. He is the Creator and He is so much greater than we can imagine. He isn’t limited by anything. Just like the fact that One Being can be present everywhere at the same time (omnipresent) doesn’t really make sense to our physical minds, just so the Father, Son and Spirit being One (but at the same time not being each Other) isn’t natural to comprehend for us. It is something we believe.

        POINT 3
        I want to link this point to my reply in the previous two points and argue that the Father and the Son are indeed One, but They are not one Person.
        See Mat 16:17 (Jesus calls Him “My” Father), Mar 13:32, Joh 5:26, Joh 17:1, Heb 1:5, 1Jn 1:3, Joh 17:21&23.

        POINT 4
        I also want to link this point to the previous ones. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God–the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of the Son but also a separate member of the Trinity.

        POINT 5
        And for this point I want to refer again to 1 John 5:7 “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.”

        But I agree with you, the most important thing remains that we believe in Jesus as God!

        Thank you for your time! God bless.

  2. Hi,
    I appreciate the variety of verses that you usrd to prove that Jesus is God. However it is important to note that although God is one and that includes the father, son and holy spirit— Jesus is distinctively different from God the father. It is God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus is God but he is not to be confused as lower glory or God the father himself. The verses that you used proved this but I think somehow you happpend to interpret it incorrectly. Keep studying and writing. God bless.

    1. Hi Kaneesha, thanks for taking the time to read and comment on this post. I greatly appreciate your feedback.
      However, I still deny your statement that Jesus is distinctively different from God the Father. There is just one God. There are no three Gods in one. There is just one God (Spirit) who is omnipresent (He can be in more than one place at a time) and he can take the form of any created thing at any time he pleases. Even angels take human forms to discharge specific earthly assignments.
      There is just one God, the LORD. He is Father, who came as Son, and came back again as Holy Spirit indwelling many humans. Hope you understand.
      if you argue otherwise, please provide biblical evidence to your claim just as I did in this post.
      Once again, thanks for commenting.
